2026 Contribution Collection on Sept. 5th

Thanks for your support in 2025; we hope that you can be as supportive this year. Also we would like to thank residents who have already made their 2026 contribution; it is much appreciated.

We will be at the entrance of Ashefield on Saturday September 5th, 2026 from 10am to 2pm and available to collect contributions directly for the annual upkeep of the estate. You can also meet members of the committee, get involved, and ask questions.

The requested contribution is just €30 this year. You can see how this money is spent on estate upkeep from this website – we publish our accounts each year.

Our IBAN is IE02 MURU 99100 233253004 if you prefer that option instead.

We hope you can contribute as every euro is needed to fund the upkeep of the estate each year and without your help, we would not be able to do it.

2026 Ashefield Residents Contribution Collection

Thanks for your support in 2025 and we hope that you can be as supportive this year. Thanks once again to those that already made their 2026 contribution either via PayPal, bank transfer, or direct to a committee member.

The collection is summarised as follows.

  • Residents Contributions; €1,481
  • Westmeath County Council Grant €450
  • Mullingar Credit Union Grant & Dividend €205

The full accounts for 2025 are available online at www.ashefield.com. As most of you know the requested contribution of €20 went unchanged from 2013 to 2024. We reluctantly increased the request from €20 to €30 per house over the last two years. Even with this increase, the requested contribution is the cheapest in Mullingar where €50 to €100 is typical in most estates.

The cost cutting the grass in the estate was €2,068 in 2024 whereas the total amount collected was €2,136. Due to the increased contributions of the residents, we took in more last year than we spent in 2025. Therefore, we can leave the requested 2026 contribution unchanged at €30, so thanks again everyone.

To make things easier we have also set up a PayPal account on www.ashefield.com into which your contribution may be paid. Payment may also be made directly to committee members for which a receipt will be issued.

Our IBAN is IE02 MURU 99100 233253004 should you prefer to use bank transfer as a method.

We would encourage this method as it means that your contribution is received in full; as PayPal deduct a charge from each payment.

Your contribution is very important. It falls back on us as a community to maintain and improve the common areas such as the green areas within the estate. We are sure you will agree that the estate’s green areas provide both a valuable and relatively safe play area for the estate’s children and their friends.

We realise that time is precious, so therefore we appreciate all and any help you can give. This can involve calling on retailers to collect abandoned shopping trolleys or picking up litter in your area.

Kind Regards

Ashefield Residents Association

2025 Accounts

Ashefield Residents Association publishes its statement of accounts each year. In 2025, we started with an opening balance of €968.18. Maintaining the common areas – specifically grass cutting – comprised all the expenditure throughout the year apart from a small amount of tax due to dividends as well as the account fee. We ended the year with a balance of €1036.

If you contributed, sincere thanks to you. We also wish to thank Mullingar Credit Union and Westmeath Co. Co. for their grant awards. As you can see from the accounts, it is not possible to cover the essential common area grass cutting costs without their and your generous help. If you wish to help with the costs for 2026, please consider donating securing via our Paypal link on this website or via a bank transfer.

The IBAN for Ashefield Residents Assocation is IE02MURU99100233253004

Please remember to note your house number in the payee message so we know who contributed and can issue a receipt. Receipts are issued automatically via Paypal if using that option.

Boundary works with Greville Park

Glenveagh contacted Ashefield Residents Association to inform us that work will soon begin along the boundary between Ashefield and Greville Park. These works are to complete the landscaping under and around the trees which include a boundary fence that they need to install. The image below outlines the works involved.

The Greville Park team stated they are committed to minimizing any disruption and inconvenience during this time and appreciate our understanding and cooperation. They apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you in advance for your patience.

In a follow-up query from the resident’s association, they stated that this is a prelimary notice and they will follow up with letters to the households in the affected area. They also provided the contact details for the site manager in case of any on-site issues or queries arising.

Have your say – weed spraying in Ashefield this year?

In accordance with Westmeath County Council’s Biodiversity Action Plan and specifically to reduce the use of herbicides and pesticides containing glyphosate, Resident’s Associations are advised that the local authority will only spray weeds in estates in the charge of Westmeath County Council if a specific request is received from the Resident’s Association for that estate.

Ashefield Residents Association must confirm if wish to “opt in” for weed spraying with glyphosate based products in 2025.

Therefore, we want to hear from Ashefield residents – we will adopt the majority decision from a poll. Please vote below.

The deadline for your vote is May 26th, 2025

2025 Collections for Estate Common Area Upkeep

Hello residents and friends,

We are collecting annual donations for 2025 to cover the upkeep costs of the common areas of the estate that are the responsibility of all us residents. The bulk of the annual cost is grass cutting for all the estate common green areas.

As with previous years, we try to keep the cost to the absolute minimum. However, due to increasing costs and dwindling reserves as you can see for yourself in our published accounts, the 2025 contribution per household has been increased to €30.

The accounts summary for the residents association is published on this site for transparency and visibility. We wish to thank everyone who can contribute to the upkeep of the estate common areas.

You can click the button below to contribute securely using Paypal. Please note that an additional €1.50 is added to this to cover the Paypal charge.

Repainted roadmarkings

Have you noticed the newly redrawn traffic markings in the estate yet? They are hard to miss and should alleviate a longstanding safety problem as they gradually disappeared over the last 20+ years. This issue was raised by Ashefield residents association with Ken Glynn who delivered on it for us. Many thanks to him for staying on it and seeing it through to a successful outcome.
